Dr Holger Kohl will cover numerous national and international practical examples of how benchmarking resulted in the implementation of best practices in Leadership Sustainability, Triple Bottom Line and Strategic Planning for Business Continuity, by using the structured benchmarking model of the Information Centre Benchmarking at Fraunhofer IPK, Berlin. Additionally the presentation will cover how benchmarking can be applied for optimization of business processes and corporate strategic orientation.

Planning for Benchmarking in Leadership and Strategic Planning

Bruce Searles will cover the planning and prioritization for a benchmarking project in Leadership and Strategic Planning to ensure benefits are maximized for the organization. Participants will practice how to determine the topic and scope for their own benchmarking project.

Benchmarking Research
Dr Robin Mann, Director, Centre for Organisational Excellence Research
Massey University and Chairman of GBN, New Zealand
Dr Robin Mann will explain how to undertake research to understand the “area of focus to be benchmarked”. It typically involves identifying appropriate measures, measuring performance, and collecting research information to understand the process/activity in more detail prior to site visits. In particular, web-based research is recommended to find benchmarks and obtain insights to best practices. Dr Mann will provide a demonstration of the Business Performance Improvement Resource (BPIR.com) website that will assist in this process. An example of web based research to identify best practices in Leadership and Strategic Planning will be shown and the results will be made available to delegates.
Dr Mann, Mr Searles and other GBN members will then facilitate group workshops on how to collect and analyze benchmark data in Leadership and Strategic Planning for their own benchmarking project.

Bruce Searles will cover how to identify the right benchmarking partners for you and how to identify the best practices that will be relevant to adapt in order to sustain your organization. Groups of participants will then be facilitated to practice how to identify benchmarking partners and source best practices for their own benchmarking project, followed by facilitated sharing and learning of best practices in Leadership and Strategic Planning for Sustainability.

Making Recommendation and Implementing Improvements
Dr Holger Kohl
Dr Holger Kohl will cover how to make recommendations for improvement based on the sharing and learning component of the benchmarking, with a particular emphasis on business continuity and sustainability. He will also cover how to develop a project plan and how to report on and review the benchmarking project. In addition he will also cover how to transfer knowledge and buy-in to make sustainable improvements in the organization and how to review the benchmarking and its implementation.
